A costly defeat for Mpetshi Perricard in Basel against Fonseca

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard's return to Basel was anticipated after his title here last year. A complicated draw awaited him with a first-round match against Joao Fonseca.

Unfortunately for the Frenchman, he couldn't find a solution to the Brazilian's serve, as he didn't earn a single break point.

He lost the first set in a tie-break before being broken early in the second set, ultimately falling 7-6, 6-3.

This defeat will have significant consequences in the rankings: he will drop about twenty places to around 55th in the world.

As for Fonseca, he will face Jakub Mensik in the next round.

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.
