A first for France, a first victory: Moutet launches the Blues against Croatia

Corentin Moutet did not miss his debut: after a fierce battle against Croatian Dino Prizmic, the Frenchman secured the first point for the Blues in this heated Davis Cup duel.

In his first Davis Cup selection, Moutet did justice to the blue jersey. In the arena of Osijek and on indoor clay, the world number 39 faced Prizmic, a player who has made significant progress this year.

It took the Frenchman 3 hours and 15 minutes to escape this trap match, missing break points at the end of the second set before wrapping up the contest easily in the decisive set (6-4, 5-7, 6-1). This first success for Moutet with the Blues puts France ahead 1-0 against Croatia.

Arthur Rinderknech will follow him on the court and challenge veteran Marin Cilic in an attempt to put the French team in a strong position ahead of tomorrow's doubles.

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.
