A Miami Match Schedule That Raises Questions
The scheduling of the Miami Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 is making headlines due to inequalities and inconsistencies.
This Wednesday, five matches were scheduled on the main court, with the program not starting until 1:00 PM local time.
Due to the clashes between Arthur Fils and Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov and Cerundolo, as well as Jessica Pegula and Emma Raducanu—all of which went to three sets—the last scheduled match, Novak Djokovic vs. Sebastian Korda, had to be postponed to the following day.
The blame lies with the new ATP rule, which requires that no match starts after 11:00 PM local time.
On top of that, the scheduling of Fils' match also raises questions, as he is set to play in the first slot this Thursday despite having played late in the afternoon the day before.
He will face Jakub Mensik, who, on the other hand, hasn’t played since Monday after benefiting from Tomas Machac’s withdrawal on Tuesday.
