A new twist in the Sinner case: the World Anti-Doping Agency is considering an appeal!
It was thought that the Jannik Sinner doping test case had been definitively closed and the player cleared. But that may not be the case.
As a reminder, the world number 1 was cleared by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), which considered that the contamination, established by two positive tests in March, was indeed unintentional.
Now, according to Corriere della Serra, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is not satisfied with the documents provided by the ITIA and reserves the right to appeal.
Contacted by our Italian colleagues, WADA spokesman James Fitzgerald said: "The agency is still reviewing the documentation on the Sinner case received from the ITIA (World Tennis Integrity Agency) to decide whether to appeal."
As a reminder, the World Anti-Doping Agency has 21 days from the date of receipt of the documents to lodge an appeal.
However, as this date is unknown, the exact deadline is difficult to establish.
Sinner will therefore have to be a little more patient.

It's hard to see an appeal succeeding here. When you read into it there has been a lot of Italian sportspeople failing in similar ways and it's a result of packaging on these creams not previously highlighting the steroid ingredients in an effective way which has now changed. My guess is people having older tubes of cream and not thinking properly. My guess is this also maybe why the case was fast tracked as there were previous cases in the same nation.
