A sensation in Turin as Ruud topples Alcaraz!

A sensation in Turin as Ruud topples Alcaraz!

Tennis has that special charm of being able to offer us absolutely unpredictable and somewhat irrational results and matches.

In a match between a Carlos Alcaraz in fine form (winner of the Beijing title) and a Casper Ruud in crisis (6 defeats in 7 matches), the outcome seemed inevitable. However, the exact opposite happened.

Rediscovering his very best tennis and taking advantage of a clearly disappointing and visibly ill Spaniard, the Norwegian managed to launch his Masters tournament with an unexpected feat, taming Carlos Alcaraz in just under 1h30 (6-1, 7-5).

Ruud's bluffing performance puts him ahead of his group ahead of the duel between Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev this evening (not before 8.30pm).

For his part, the world number 3 is off to a very poor start to his tournament, despite having announced that he had come to Turin to win the title.
