Is Casper Ruud putting in one of the most unexpected performances of the season?

After losing 6 of his last 7 matches, the Norwegian dominated the first set of his Masters group match against Carlos Alcaraz (6-1).

With his unrivalled efficiency on the important points (5 break points saved out of 5 and 2 break points converted out of 2), the world number 7 seized his chance perfectly and is now taking full advantage of a Spaniard whose level is rather alarming (5 winners, 18 unforced errors).

Ill-treated, the Spanish prodigy will have to raise his game considerably if he is to topple this Casper Ruud and avoid an early group defeat.
