"A tremendous pride": Arthur Fils, new ambassador for Saudi Arabia
It's official: Arthur Fils is joining the prestigious PIF family, the powerful Saudi fund now omnipresent in world tennis. A source of pride for the Frenchman, who sees this role as "a challenge and an opportunity to inspire the new generation."
Saudi Arabia continues to increase its presence in the world of tennis. The Middle Eastern Kingdom, via the PIF (Public Investment Fund), is a sponsor of the ATP and WTA tours, in addition to hosting the Next Gen Finals, the WTA Finals, and a Masters 1000 event starting in 2028.
The PIF also engages players to represent them as ambassadors. The latest is Arthur Fils, who made his new role official on social media on Sunday:
"Being a PIF ambassador motivates me, because I am now part of a larger project to develop this sport. It pushes me to give my best on the court but also to be an example for the next generations.
I am very happy to represent the new generation. Some children dream of being like me, which means I have accomplished remarkable work.
The PIF offers opportunities at all levels, gives a chance to the next generation, and advances the game. I am proud to join this family and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this sport I love so much."
Fils is the fourth player to hold this ambassador title for Saudi Arabia, joining Rafael Nadal, Matteo Berrettini and Paula Badosa.
