After Breaking Into the Top 10, Musetti Receives Italy's Highest Sporting Honor

With nine wins in his last eleven matches, Musetti is currently delivering an outstanding clay-court season.
A semifinalist in Madrid, the 23-year-old approaches the final Masters 1000 before Roland-Garros with great confidence, while also holding a historic ranking as the world No. 9—a milestone for Italian tennis.
Thanks to this ranking, Musetti has become the sixth Italian in history to achieve this feat after Adriano Panatta, Corrado Barazzutti, Fabio Fognini, Matteo Berrettini, and Jannik Sinner.
As a result, this Monday, the Carrare native was honored with Italy's highest sporting distinction, receiving the Gold Medal for Athletic Merit. Present at the Sala delle Fiaccole of the CONI in Rome, the Monte-Carlo finalist was awarded the honor by Italian National Olympic Committee president Giovanni Malagò and general secretary Carlo Mornati.
This award recognizes his contribution to Italy's 2024 Davis Cup victory, achieved alongside teammates Jannik Sinner, Matteo Berrettini, Simone Bolelli, and Andrea Vavassori.
