After being eliminated by Italy in the quarter-finals of the last Davis Cup, Argentina was the only team to push the eventual winners to play a decisive doubles match.
However, despite this encouraging result, Guillermo Coria decided to step down as captain after three seasons.
In search of a new captain following his resignation, the Argentine Tennis Federation wasted no time in appointing Javier Frana, former world No. 30, doubles finalist at Wimbledon and doubles bronze medallist at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
The 57-year-old former player will be at the helm of the Argentinian team at the start of February for the match against Norway. If they win, Argentina will face the Netherlands in the 2nd round of the tournament.
