After his title in Miami, Mensik falls in the first round in Munich
Mensik was playing for the first time since his title in Miami. Facing Hanfmann, the Czech player did not start his clay-court season as he would have hoped.
After a tightly contested first set lost in a tie-break, the 19-year-old fought back to level the match at one set all.
However, the world No. 23 made too many unforced errors (46 in total) and struggled on serve (51% first-serve points won and 4 double faults). He ultimately lost in three sets (7-6, 4-6, 6-3).
Hanfmann will face Griekspoor in the round of 16.
