Dedura-Palomero Becomes First Player Born in 2008 to Win an ATP Match

Diego Dedura-Palomero had the opportunity to make his debut on the ATP main tour thanks to a wildcard granted by the organizers of the Munich tournament to compete in the qualifiers.

Despite a loss to Alexander Bublik in the second round of the qualifiers, the German was drawn as a lucky loser and faced Denis Shapovalov on Tuesday.

Dedura-Palomero was leading 7-6, 6-3 before the Canadian retired. This victory makes him the first player born in 2008 to win a match on the ATP tour.

He celebrated the win with a controversial celebration that drew criticism from tennis fans.

In the second round, he will face either Zizou Bergs or Alexander Bublik.
