After Rome, I had a lot of time to reflect on my way of playing," says Swiatek before the start of Roland Garros
Going through a rough patch, Iga Swiatek will attempt to bounce back at Roland Garros where she has won four times and is once again entering as the defending champion.
Eliminated in Rome in the third round by Danielle Collins, the world No. 5 has had time to acclimate to the playing conditions at Porte d'Auteuil. Speaking to journalists, she described her mindset before the start of the tournament:
"I came a bit earlier to train and simply be here because I love this place. As everyone knows, I have great memories, and I'm trying to enjoy it.
After Rome, I had a lot of time to reflect on my way of playing. I feel like I'm not starting some matches well and against Danielle (Collins), I got tense.
These are things every athlete has to work on. I have come to a point where I feel I need to change something in my attitude and sometimes, be more energetic before my matches.
Reaching that conclusion, accepting it, and understanding it has helped me. But now, the goal is to translate that into my matches because I feel comfortable in practice and my tennis is fine.
