Though he received a bye in the first round, Griekspoor had to battle hard against Pellegrino in his opening match at Bastad. Struggling in the first two sets, the Dutchman managed to turn the tide and clinch victory in three sets (4-6, 7-6, 6-3).

As the tournament's second seed, Griekspoor came dangerously close to an early exit, saving five match points in the second set against the Italian qualifier (ranked 139th).

Eliminated in the first round of Wimbledon, the 29-year-old is seeking better results at this Swedish 250 event. Having already secured a spot in the quarterfinals, he has already surpassed last year's performance, where he fell in the opening round to Skatov.

For a place in the semifinals, he will face his compatriot De Jong, who defeated Kopriva in the previous round 7-6, 7-5.

Hello I'm new

I am surprised about relatively low attendance at Roland Garros which was the most popular slam 20+ years ago. I myself love it as well as really loving aus and us opens. I don't care about Wimbledon, sometimes maybe I can watch women's tennis. I hate Wimbledon's white dress code, I feel like I am watching junior tennis...I watched very few matches like Graf davenport final in 1999 the last time.....
