For Jasmine Paolini, crowned champion in Rome this Saturday, the tournament didn’t end there, as she was still competing in the doubles draw with her compatriot Sara Errani.
They faced Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens. The Italian duo emerged victorious with a score of 6-4, 7-5.
Paolini has now won the Rome tournament in both singles and doubles. This is the first time since Monica Seles in 1990 that a player has achieved this feat in Rome.
In the WTA 1000 category, she is also the second player to accomplish this, the first being Vera Zvonareva in 2009 at Indian Wells, partnered with Victoria Azarenka in doubles.
