"After the fourth, I still had several sets in my legs," Arthur Fils reflects on his first victory at Roland-Garros
Eliminated in the first round in the last two editions, Arthur Fils had never won a match in the main draw of Roland-Garros. That has changed now with a victory against Jarry. In a press conference after the match, the 20-year-old player explained that he had intensified his physical training in recent weeks to be ready for Paris:
"After the fourth, I still had several sets in my legs. I finished much better than I started. At first, I was quite slow, then toward the beginning of the fourth, I found a pace that I could have maintained for a long time. I spent a lot of time in the gym, on the court, and we did many tough exercises, including cardio. That's why I'm not afraid to go into a match."
In the next round, he will face the Spaniard and world No. 57 Munar.
