Alacaraz: "When I finished school, I used to run to watch Roland-Garros".
This Sunday, Carlos Alcaraz takes on Alexander Zverev in his first Roland Garros final. It's a moment he's dreamed of since he was a child. His memories of the tournament go back to when he was very young, watching the matches on television after school.
These were often Rafael Nadal matches, as 'Carlitos' hardly ever experienced the tournament outside the period of outrageous domination by his elder (Alcaraz was 2 years old when Nadal won his first Roland-Garros in 2005).
Carlos Alcaraz: "I have a special feeling about this tournament. Because, I remember that at the end of school, I would run home to turn on the television and watch the French Open matches.
I watched a lot of matches. Of course, a lot of Rafa Nadal's matches. He's been dominating this tournament for, let's say, 14 or 15 years (his first title was actually 19 years ago). It's something incredible."
