Alcaraz enjoys his free time: the world number 1 present in the United States to present a trophy to Messi in MLS
After a highly successful 2025 season with eight titles won (Rotterdam, Monte-Carlo, Rome, Roland-Garros, Queen’s, Cincinnati, US Open, and Tokyo), Carlos Alcaraz was rewarded by reclaiming the world number 1 spot after his triumph at Flushing Meadows.
His rivalry with Jannik Sinner will resume with renewed vigor next year. While awaiting the Spaniard's new challenges on the tennis courts, the 22-year-old player took advantage of his free time at the end of the year to travel to the United States.
Alcaraz brought the MLS Eastern Conference winner's trophy in front of Messi
On Saturday night into Sunday, Inter Miami, the club where football legend Lionel Messi is the captain, qualified for the MLS final, the country's football championship. The Florida club easily dominated New York City (5-1) in the Eastern Conference final (in a format similar to the NBA, which corresponds to the playoff semifinals).
For the occasion, Carlos Alcaraz, a big football fan and Real Madrid supporter, brought the Eastern Conference winner's trophy onto the podium during the ceremony, under the watchful eyes of Messi, who later greeted him. In the final, Inter Miami will face the Vancouver Whitecaps, who won their side against San Diego (3-1) in the Western Conference final, on December 6th.
