Alcaraz far too strong for Monfils!
Gaël Monfils lasted just 4 games before giving up on Carlos Alcaraz. Overrun in the 5th game, where he feared he had injured his left Achilles tendon, the Frenchman was no match for the Spaniard until the final games of the match. The world No.2, good without being excellent, won 6-2, 6-4 in 1 hour and 13 minutes, in a match that still had a few hot shots in store for us.
In the quarter-finals, Alcaraz will meet the winner of the ongoing match between Ben Shelton and Lorenzo Musetti on the Butch Buchholz court.
