Alcaraz: "Many say I should play better or win more tournaments. I find that unfair"

So far, Carlos Alcaraz's 2025 season has been relatively disappointing, despite a title in Rotterdam.
The Spaniard, who couldn’t participate in the 2024 Monte-Carlo edition due to injury, spoke to the tournament’s website.
"I’m really happy with the way I’m playing. I’m really happy with the way I’m playing. Since the start of the year, I’ve been playing great tennis.
Tennis isn’t just about hitting the ball. It’s much more than that. It’s about mentality, the physical aspect.
If I don’t win, it doesn’t matter if I play well or not. People don’t think about the opponent, they just think about me.
Many say I should play better or win more tournaments. I find that unfair.
I think the draw in every tournament is very open, and a lot of players are playing well and deserve to be there.
There are so many players who excel on clay and on all surfaces. I think the clay season is going to be interesting.
I see many players capable of achieving great things on clay. It’s a tournament I’ve only played once. I want to come here and play well.
I’m really looking forward to training here and preparing for my first match."
Alcaraz has a first-round bye and will face the winner of the match between Francisco Cerundolo and Fabio Fognini.
