Alcaraz on Sinner’s Return: “I Hope to Face Him in the Final”
Present in Rome after his adductor injury, Alcaraz will begin the tournament with a second-round match against Lajovic on Friday, May 9. In a press conference, the Spaniard shared his mindset:
“I’m really happy to be in Rome—it’s my second time playing here, and I’m excited. The training sessions have been great so far, and I’m 100% ready. I can’t wait to make my debut.”
The player, who just turned 22, also spoke about the return of his rival Sinner after a three-month absence:
“I’m happy to see him back here. Three months have passed, and it’s been tough for him. I think there’s no better place than Rome, his home, to return to the court. I’ve met him. It’s great for me, for tennis, and for the fans to have him in this tournament. I hope to face him in the final, but what I really mean is that I’m just happy to see him again. I’ll enjoy watching him play once more.”
Sinner will make his competitive return against Argentina’s Navone.
