Roddick Analyzes Sinner’s Return: "We Shouldn’t Lower Expectations for Him"
Back home in Rome, Sinner is aware that many hopes rest on him. While some believe the world No. 1 deserves patience, others argue the opposite.
In an interview with Tennis Channel, Roddick explained that even if the Italian isn’t yet at his best, expectations for him shouldn’t be diminished:
"He seems to have done excellent mental work. I understand that people might expect less from him due to his absence, but he’s still the world No. 1 and has been the dominant force in tennis over the last 18 months. We shouldn’t lower expectations for him. Of course, there are more questions surrounding him now, and we won’t always see the perfect version of Sinner."
With a bye in the first round, Sinner will face Argentina’s Navone for a spot in the third round.
