Alcaraz responds to criticism of his documentary: I've learned not to think about what people might say
le 08/05/2025 à 17h51

Following the release of his documentary on Netflix, Alcaraz faced a wave of criticism. Many have accused the Spaniard of having a lifestyle incompatible with high-level sports. He addressed these comments during a press conference in Rome:

"One of the things I’ve learned is not to think about what people say, except for those in my close circle—my team, my family, or my friends. Yes, I’ve heard both good and bad things about this documentary.

But I just try to stay on my own path. Sometimes, people thought the way I saw things—like enjoying life—could make me seem unprofessional.

I wouldn’t call it a battle, but rather a conversation we have among players and coaches about this topic. Still, it’s not the only one. We talk about everything—tournaments, training, and things I probably shouldn’t do.

Anyone who claims they don’t have these kinds of conversations is lying. I think it’s good to have a mix of feelings and different perspectives. In the end, we’re all on the same path, all together, so I think that’s what matters most."

Alcaraz won the genetic lotto big time when it comes to raw athletic ability. When it comes to temperament, which is also genetic, he didn't win. He simply doesn’t have the type of mentality Djokovic or Federer or Nadal have. But then a lot of athletically gifted athletes don't have it. What is fortunate for him is that he has realized at an early age his mentality and is working it into his career instead of fighting it nonstop and letting it become an incessant point of contention and distraction.

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.

How about leavin...

It's a shame that so many matches are being canceled. TT ,you are destroying your game ,and thereby killing your app. I don't know how many matches others have had canceled , but I'm at 3 and it's only thursday.

As a long time player and lover of this game , I don't know how much of this I can tolerate. For example I waited hours last night for you to confirm my win and post my points. Every ot...

This week I have used all my formulas and best guesses to try to achieve the high score jimandlori958 set in our last competition. I am two games short because of cancelations and I need all wins to get there.

An impressive win.. Congrats to our winner this week, jimandlori958 and with a score that could not be caught or matched. I don't remember a 56 in a while with our group. Nice to see everyone using the 2 point predictions. Can't win without 'em.
