Alcaraz stronger than Sinner and in the final at Roland-Garros!
The clash finally lived up to its promise! Carlos Alcaraz has just qualified for the final of this 2024 edition of Roland-Garros after an indecisive battle from start to finish. The Spaniard dominated Jannik Sinner in just over 4 hours and 5 sets (2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3).
Perhaps it was the Spaniard's physique that enabled him to go the distance better than the Italian. Both players started the match at a very high tempo, hitting the ball with phenomenal power and trying to take it as early as possible to overtake their opponents.
An infernal pace which undoubtedly left its mark on both players. But while there was some concern about their condition in the middle of the match, they both managed to get back to their best in the 4th and 5th sets, ending with a fine performance.
Alcaraz thus deprives Sinner of a second consecutive Grand Slam final and, for his part, will attempt to win his 3rd Major title, after the US Open 2022 and Wimbledon 2023. In Sunday's final, he will face the winner of the second semi-final which, as last year, will now pit Alexander Zverev against Casper Ruud.
