Alcaraz wary of Draper: "He's one of the most dangerous players on the tour"
Carlos Alcaraz is still in the running to achieve the triple at the Indian Wells Masters 1000. Having won the last two editions in California, the Spaniard aims to become the first player to win this American tournament three times in a row since Novak Djokovic in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
After defeating Quentin Halys, Denis Shapovalov, Grigor Dimitrov, and Francisco Cerundolo without dropping a single set, the world number 3 will face Jack Draper, the British left-handed player, for a spot in the final. The Spaniard has been full of praise for his upcoming opponent.
"It's complicated to play against Jack; he's one of the most dangerous players on the tour. He has a very good baseline rhythm and possesses strong shots. I need to be ready and focused for this match.
I will try to play my tennis. I'm happy to face him because the last time, he had to withdraw due to an injury (at this year's Australian Open). In tennis, what matters is winning, no matter how.
You can't think about playing great tennis in every match. You have to advance through the rounds with the level you have on that day. You need to be mentally strong to stay there all the time. I haven't hit the ball as cleanly as in my previous matches.
But I did what was necessary to win, and that's what counts," assured Alcaraz, who leads three wins to one against Draper, for Marca.
