Rune, defeater of Griekspoor at Indian Wells: "I managed to play in a way that he didn't like"

Holger Rune has qualified for the semifinals at the Indian Wells Masters 1000. The Danish player, ranked 13th in the world, overcame Tallon Griekspoor (5-7, 6-0, 6-3), losing only six points in the second set.
The 2022 Paris-Bercy tournament winner also secured his first victory against the Dutchman in their third encounter, after two previous losses on clay.
After the match, Rune expressed satisfaction with his performance and is now preparing for his semifinal against Daniil Medvedev.
"I was mentally strong, especially in finding solutions during crucial moments. Tallon is a very strong player, and I'm happy to have advanced. Mentally, it wasn't easy after losing the first set.
He always had an answer, no matter what I did. I had to change my game plan and started playing differently. I saw that I could create more difficulties for him, and I kept pushing in that direction.
I managed to play in a way that he didn't like. I think I did what was necessary to find a way to win. It felt good to secure my first victory against him, for sure. You never want to lose three times in a row to the same player.
I didn't think about it on the court, but it was good motivation to try and beat him. I didn't want to lose to him, and I'm very happy to have turned things around," said the Dane during the post-match press conference.
