Already withdrawn from Doha, Keys will not take part in the Dubai Masters 1000
Madison Keys will have to wait a few more weeks before inaugurating her status as Grand Slam champion on court.
Following her Australian Open triumph over Aryna Sabalenka, the American - who took the opportunity to achieve the highest WTA ranking of her career with a 7th place finish - announced at the end of January that she would not be taking part in the Doha Masters 1000, which begins this Sunday, February 9.
To justify her decision, Keys cited a leg injury. This will also prevent her from taking part in the Dubai Masters 1000 from February 16 to 22.
The WTA confirmed the 29-year-old's withdrawal from the tournament in the United Arab Emirates on its website.
"Keys has only made two appearances at the Dubai tournament in the past, with her best result being a quarter-final appearance, which she reached in 2023.
See you from February 16 in Dubai, where the two world number ones, Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek, as well as titleholder Jasmine Paolini, will be the main headliners," it reads.
