In a highly anticipated match this Thursday, Mirra Andreeva secured her spot in the semifinals of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells by defeating Elina Svitolina (7-5, 6-3).
The Russian, who had not dropped a single set since the start of the tournament, continued her strong form despite a tightly contested first set. Svitolina put up a good fight but was unable to sustain her level against Andreeva's performance.
At just 17 years old, she reaches her second WTA 1000 semifinal in her young career, following her run in Dubai last month. However, the next match will be a significant challenge for her, as she will face Iga Swiatek, the two-time defending champion, on the other side of the net.
