Victorious in three sets (2-6, 6-4, 6-3) in the Indian Wells final against Sabalenka, Andreeva has joined Serena Williams in the ranking of the youngest players to have won the tournament. A historic achievement for the Russian.
But this is not the only notable feat for Andreeva. She also becomes the second youngest player since the early 2000s to have reached the Top 6 in the WTA rankings.
At 17 years and 322 days, the Russian is surpassed only by her compatriot Maria Sharapova (17 years and 203 days). Retired since 2020, Sharapova had won her first Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 2004.
