Andreeva on Alcaraz's Influence: "I Try to Imitate Him During My Matches"
Victorious in Dubai and Indian Wells at just 17 years old, Mirra Andreeva has shown impressive mental strength. A quarterfinalist in Madrid in 2024, the Russian hopes to do even better this year. She also reached the semifinals in Paris during her second Roland-Garros appearance.
In an interview shared by *Punto de Break*, the young player reflected on the players who inspire her on the tour. She specifically mentioned Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz:
"I’d love to have his physical abilities, but also his ability to unleash his shots. Actually, I try to do it by watching him on TV and then attempting to imitate him later in my matches. When I was younger, I used to play drop shots—it’s a great weapon, but it really depends on how you’re feeling the ball that day."
Currently competing in Madrid, she will face the winner of the match between Bouzkova and Zarazua in the second round.
