Anisimova to Break into Top 5 for the First Time in Her Career After the US Open
The women's final of the 2025 US Open is now set. Aryna Sabalenka, who will be playing her third consecutive final in New York, will face Amanda Anisimova. The latter defeated Naomi Osaka in the semifinals (6-7, 7-6, 6-3).
The world number one will attempt to defend her title, won last year against Jessica Pegula, facing another American player who had also dominated her in the Wimbledon semifinals earlier this summer.
Anisimova will not enter this final as the favorite, but she can count on the support of her home crowd on Arthur Ashe Court this Saturday. Moreover, the 24-year-old player knows how to play against Sabalenka, having already beaten her six times since the start of her career.
While awaiting her second consecutive Grand Slam final, the American has already received good news in recent hours. Indeed, the world number 9 at the start of the tournament is now guaranteed to make her debut in the WTA top 5 next week.
Thus, regardless of the outcome of the final against Sabalenka, Anisimova will be ranked 4th next Monday, her career-best ranking. Only Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, and Coco Gauff will be ahead of the Freehold native after the New York fortnight.
