At 31, Grégoire Barrère Officially Ends His Career
The Frenchman, a discreet but respected figure on the circuit, took his final bow this Sunday in Lyon. Twelve years of challenges, Challenger victories, and relentless determination come to an end for one of the familiar faces of French tennis.
The final curtain for Grégoire Barrère. The Frenchman brought his professional career to a close this Sunday after twelve years spent on the men's tour.
Barrère had announced a few months ago that 2025 would be his final year as a professional player. It was at the Lyon Challenger that he played his last match, defeated in the first round of qualifying by Geoffrey Blancaneaux (6-4, 6-1).
During his career, the 31-year-old player won six Challenger titles (Lille in 2018 and 2019, Quimper in 2019 and 2023, Orléans in 2022 and Brest in 2022). He also reached a career-high world ranking of No. 49 in July 2023.
