At Wimbledon, Mpetshi Perricard is the favorite to qualify

Wimbledon begins tomorrow. At least, as far as the qualifying rounds are concerned. Many players will be trying to make it through these three rounds to reach the final table and still be in contention in London next week.

This is particularly true of Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The Frenchman arrives with the status of huge favorite for qualification. Ranked 67th in the world this week and having beaten Shelton in the first round of the Queen's tournament, the 20-year-old seems perfectly equipped to join the draw, as his status as number 1 seed shows.

Although in the space of a year he has managed to make a phenomenal leap up the rankings (he was 221st this time last year), he should not rest on his laurels.

Indeed, conditions at Wimbledon are always very special, and entering the temple of tennis is bound to be an event, especially for young players. It should also be pointed out that the draw will be decisive, and that there are several committed players capable of upsetting him.

We'll be able to give you an idea very shortly, as the qualifying draw is due to take place later today.
