At Wimbledon, Zverev sets his sights high: "I really feel like I'm here to maybe win the title."

At Wimbledon, Zverev sets his sights high: I really feel like I'm here to maybe win the title.

Alexander Zverev doesn't arrive in the same suit he wore at Roland Garros. The German is very comfortable on clay and fast surfaces, but generally has more difficulty on grass.

His preparation tournament showed this quite clearly. Although he didn't play badly, he didn't shine, reaching the semi-finals in Halle with difficulty (beaten by Hurkacz).

Nevertheless, the world number 4 seems to be nurturing big ambitions just a few hours before the start of this new edition of Wimbledon. In any case, that's what he told L'Equipe: "This is the first time I really feel like I'm here to maybe win the title. That wasn't the case in previous years. I didn't feel capable of it.

I didn't believe in it. I also think that this Wimbledon is the most open we've had in 20 years in terms of favourites, in terms of potential winners.

There are several guys who have a very decent chance of going far and a very decent chance of winning the tournament.

I don't think that's been the case for 20 years, before Roger (Federer) started winning it all. After Roger came Rafa (Nadal), Novak (Djokovic), Andy (Murray)... Now it's different.

Is this a tournament where I need a bit more luck? Yes, definitely. More than in other Grand Slam tournaments. If all these elements go my way for once, then yes, I can win."
