It's now official: Sebastian Baez will face Jaume Munar in the opening match of the United Cup (January 2 to 11), during the Spain-Argentina duel scheduled for the day session at the RAC Arena in Perth.

While the clash may seem low-key on paper, it will still be symbolic as it will launch the 2026 season.

Spain-Argentina followed by Greece-Japan

The opening day will feature:

- a men's singles: Munar vs Baez (3:00 AM, French time),

- a women's singles: Bouzas vs Sierra (starting at 4:30 AM, French time),

- a decisive mixed doubles.

An interesting first clash, which will be followed by another, quite rare one between Greece and Japan.

- a women's singles: Sakkari vs Osaka (10:00 AM, French time),

- a men's singles: Tsitsipas vs Mochizuki (starting at 11:30 AM, French time),

- a decisive mixed doubles.

While everyone believed Stefanos Tsitsipas was guilty of a record speeding offense, the case took a twist: the driver was none other than his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas.

Spain was just one step away from a first Davis Cup title since 2019, but that does not stop Jaume Munar from reflecting on his country's very fine journey in the competition this year.

Hello I'm new

5j

I am surprised about relatively low attendance at Roland Garros which was the most popular slam 20+ years ago. I myself love it as well as really loving aus and us opens. I don't care about Wimbledon, sometimes maybe I can watch women's tennis. I hate Wimbledon's white dress code, I feel like I am watching junior tennis...I watched very few matches like Graf davenport final in 1999 the last time.....
