ATP 500 Rotterdam draw: Revenge in the air for Alcaraz, Wawrinka-Medvedev on the first-round programme
The first big tournament after the end of the Australian Open is the Rotterdam ATP 500. Despite the withdrawal of world number 1 Jannik Sinner, the line-up is mouth-watering.
The draw for the main draw has been made, and there are some heavyweights on the program.
Number 1 seed Carlos Alcaraz will face Botic van de Zandschulp in his first match. The Dutchman caused a surprise at the last US Open, eliminating Alcaraz in three short sets in the second round.
A few weeks later, it was the same Botic van de Zandschulp who ended Nadal's career, contributing to Spain's elimination from the Davis Cup quarter-finals.
Daniil Medvedev, seeded No. 2, will also face Stan Wawrinka in the first round. A number of other matches will be worth a detour, including Lecheka-Popyrin, Berrettini-Griekspoor and Rublev-Zhang.
Rune will play against Sonego. Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alex De Minaur also feature in the draw.
As for the French, Arthur Fils will face a qualifier and could meet Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the second round. To do so, the world No. 30 will also have to eliminate Kovacevic.
