ATP Paris: Auger-Aliassime Too Strong for Vacherot!

ATP Paris: Auger-Aliassime Too Strong for Vacherot!

Auger-Aliassime snuffed out the Vacherot surprise (6-2, 6-2) to reach the semi-finals of the Rolex Paris Masters.

Félix Auger-Aliassime delivered. Facing a Valentin Vacherot who had been playing out of his skin since the start of the week, the Canadian imposed his will this Friday at La Défense Arena. A swift victory (6-2, 6-2) in 1 hour and 17 minutes, marking the return of a player we had been waiting a long time for.

It's been a long road. Between injuries, doubts, and early exits, the Montreal native has experienced contrasting seasons. But for a few weeks now, the signs have been there: a semi-final at the US Open, solid wins in Shanghai, a title in Antwerp, and now a semi-final spot in Paris.

With this performance, Auger-Aliassime joins a very exclusive club: since the tournament moved to hard court in 2007, he is only the fourth non-European player to reach multiple semi-finals at the Paris Masters 1000, after David Nalbandian, John Isner, and Milos Raonic. Further proof of his ability to shine in the electric Parisian atmosphere.

But that's not all. Thanks to this win, Félix Auger-Aliassime climbs even higher in the Race to Turin. The Canadian is now just 90 points behind Lorenzo Musetti, the current 8th player in the Race, and can still dream of qualifying for the ATP Finals.

For a spot in the final, he will face the winner of the match between De Minaur and Bublik.
