ATP/WTA: Which player has withdrawn the most in 2025?
In 2025, mid-tournament withdrawals have multiplied at a rarely seen rate, often involving the same players.
Here is the ranking published by Jeu, Set et Maths, a specialized X account for tennis-related statistics. Note that only withdrawals occurring during a tournament are counted.
Two female players alone at the top on the women's side
On the WTA tour, two names sadly dominate the statistics:
Anna Kalinskaya (5 withdrawals) and Paula Badosa (4 withdrawals) have confirmed months of recurring fragility.
Unfortunate withdrawals for the women's circuit, but they are much less significant in terms of the number of players compared to the men's circuit.
A bloodbath among the men
Indeed, on the ATP side, the numbers are even more impressive and much more concerning:
Grigor Dimitrov – 6 withdrawals
Tomas Machac – 6 withdrawals
Yoshihito Nishioka – 5 withdrawals
Holger Rune – 4 withdrawals
Jordan Thompson – 4 withdrawals
A relentless pace that leaves its mark
Impressive totals rarely reached due to an even denser schedule and ever-increasing pressure, not to mention surfaces that vary each week.
And if the trend continues, 2026 could become the most physically demanding year of the last decade.
