Auger-Aliassime and Mboko named Canada's best players of the year 2025
Canadian tennis shone throughout the season. Félix Auger-Aliassime won three ATP titles (Adelaide, Montpellier, and Brussels) and had an excellent end to the season.
A semi-finalist at the US Open and a finalist at the Paris Masters 1000, among other achievements, the Quebecer reached the world No. 5 ranking and was rewarded for his efforts. The 25-year-old player indeed competed in the ATP Finals in Turin, reaching the semi-finals against Carlos Alcaraz. Logically, Auger-Aliassime was named the country's best male player at the Tennis Canada Awards this year.
The revelation Mboko also rewarded
On the WTA side, it was Victoria Mboko who won this title. She was one of the major discoveries of the season. In fact, she was nominated among the candidates for the WTA's Newcomer of the Year award.
Outside the top 300 at the start of the year, Mboko began the season with four consecutive titles on the secondary circuit before reaching the third round of Roland-Garros after playing through the qualifiers.
The 19-year-old player definitively changed her status during the summer. At home during the WTA 1000 in Montreal, she defeated Birrell, Kenin, Bouzkova, Gauff, Bouzas Maneiro, Rybakina, and Osaka to claim the first WTA title of her young career. Currently ranked 18th in the world (her best ranking), the Canadian also won the WTA 250 tournament in Hong Kong for her last tournament of the year.
