Auger-Aliassime: "It gives me a lot of confidence".
Félix Auger-Aliassime was the main surprise in the men's draw at the Paris Olympic Games.
Having arrived on the Paris clay court in poor form, the Canadian rediscovered his best tennis at the best of times. A semi-finalist in the singles, he ultimately failed to bring home an individual medal, losing to Alcaraz in the semi-finals and then to Musetti in the small final. But he never gave up, winning bronze in the mixed doubles.
On his arrival in Montreal, where he will represent Canada's main hope, Auger-Aliassime talked about his current state of fitness.
Unashamedly confident, he explained: "Of course, the Olympics are a special tournament.
I spoke to some of you before my competition and I said how important it was for me, first of all, to try to have a good Olympic tournament, to experience great emotions there before coming here.
I've been served. I've always believed that with time, patience, hard work and trying to improve, that one day victories like this would come.
There are a lot of good things out there, and of course deep down I always think I can do it. But to make it happen in such an important tournament gives me a lot of confidence."
