Badosa Withdraws in Miami, Young Eala Advances to Her First WTA 1000 Quarterfinal

After securing a spot in the Round of 16 at the Miami Masters 1000, Badosa was forced to withdraw due to injury.

Plagued by a lingering back injury that has troubled her for several months, the Spaniard had to pull out of another tournament after her withdrawal from the WTA 500 in Mérida earlier in March.

Meanwhile, young Philippine rising star Eala has earned a direct entry into the quarterfinals—her first in a WTA 1000 event. She defeated Keys in the previous round (6-4, 6-2) and will face Swiatek in the quarterfinals.
