During the duel between Ben Shelton and Tomás Etcheverry in Basel, a spectator shouted something both hilarious and unexpected: "Ben, will you marry me?"

During the first round of the ATP 500 Basel on October 22, 2024, something unexpected happened. As Ben Shelton was preparing to return the Argentine's serve at 6-3, 5-3 in the second set, a shout came from the stands:

"Ben, will you marry me?!"

Shelton, visibly surprised, looked up toward the stands, cracked a smile... before refocusing. A scene that also provoked laughter from the spectators present.

The outcome? A 6-3, 6-4 victory for the American and qualification for the second round.
