At just 19 years old, João Fonseca has achieved a rare feat: by reaching the semi-final of an ATP 500 tournament, he becomes the second Brazilian in the modern era to do so.

João Fonseca, the young Brazilian prodigy with a powerful and determined style, has just passed a major milestone. Indeed, thanks to his opponent's retirement in the third set, he qualifies for the semi-final of the Basel tournament, his second on the ATP tour.

During his match, Fonseca secured two breaks in the third set and was preparing to serve at 4-1. Then, his opponent, Denis Shapovalov, a former world top 10 player, retired. The final score: 3-6, 6-3, 4-1, ret.
