Jannik Sinner will miss out on a third consecutive Grand Slam semi-final. Up against a Daniil Medvedev on a very good day, the Italian lost in 5 sets on Tuesday (6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3).
In a match in which the world number 1 looked physically weakened, Sinner agreed to talk about his physical state in a press conference: "This morning, I wasn't feeling well. I had a few problems and then a lot of fatigue. It was tough. I got off the court, but I didn't want to give up.
The physio told me I'd better take a little time, because he was watching me and I didn't really seem fit to play. I was struggling physically. It wasn't an easy time.
I tried to fight with what I had today (Tuesday). When I came back, I did my best. In the fourth set, I raised my level a bit. In the fifth, I had a bad service game that decided the match. That's how it goes."
