"Before, they played a slightly different tennis, now the game is faster," Sinner reflects on past rivalries
Sinner fell short in the Roland-Garros final against Alcaraz after a spectacular match. A showdown that evoked the golden era of the Big 3. In the press conference, the Italian reflected on this new rivalry:
"Every rivalry is different. Before, they played a slightly different tennis, now the game is faster. I was lucky enough to play against Novak, against Rafa. Unfortunately, I never faced Roger in Grand Slam tournaments, but beating these players is very tough.
I feel the same with Carlos and other rivals. It’s great to see that we can also produce tennis like this because I think it’s good for the whole tennis movement and for the fans. I’d be even happier if I had won the trophy, but there’s nothing I can change now."
The stakes were high for the two top-ranked players, as neither had ever lost a Grand Slam final before. The two had faced off 11 times on tour, with a slight edge for the Spaniard in majors (2-1).
