"Ben Shelton's Serve Scares Me," Raducanu's Words Ahead of Her Doubles Debut at the US Open
Winner of the 2021 edition, Emma Raducanu will once again aim to perform in the women's singles draw at the US Open. In the meantime, she will start with the mixed doubles tournament alongside world No. 2, Carlos Alcaraz.
When asked about it, the 22-year-old player shared her thoughts ahead of the competition. An interview relayed by *Tennis Up To Date*:
"I think what scares me the most are certain shots. Ben Shelton’s serve scares me. That’s probably the one in particular. And then, of course, all the other players. It’s very hard to return their serves.
Reilly Opelka? He serves from a stepladder. It’s unbelievable. But of course, I’m really excited. It’s a unique opportunity, and I think a lot of women probably feel the same way. Returning the men’s serves is quite difficult."
As a reminder, this new mixed doubles format will take place from August 19 to 20. The Brit, meanwhile, will begin with her Spanish partner this Tuesday against the pair Pegula-Draper (around 2 p.m.).
