Bencic takes the title in Abu Dhabi!

Belinda Bencic defeated Ashlyn Krueger 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the final of the Abu Dhabi tournament on Saturday.

The Swiss player came out on top in a final that was initially indecisive, with numerous breaks conceded in the first set (seven in all). In the end, it was Krueger who came out on top, winning the first set.

The second set was a one-way affair, with Bencic finding her stride more easily and unleashing some decisive winners.

The scenario was repeated in the final set, against an opponent who showed signs of service fever (11 double faults for Krueger, 9 service games lost).

This is Bencic's first title since returning to competition after giving birth to a baby girl less than a year ago.

She will return to the Top 100 next week, climbing to 65th in the world rankings, while Krueger will achieve a career-best ranking of 40th on Monday.
