Benneteau warns Murray, Djokovic's new coach: "Just because you were a great player doesn't mean you're a good coach"
Julien Benneteau, guest on RMC Sports' Stephen Brunch program, was asked about the surprising partnership between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
While most fans are still stunned by the announcement, the captain of the French Billie Jean King Cup team was kind enough to offer his analysis.
He declared: "Just because you've been a great player doesn't mean you're a good coach, and it doesn't guarantee success as a coach. Andy Murray is going to be a coach, not a trainer; he's not going to teach him how to hit a forehand or a backhand.
I think Djokovic has a real motivation to have won 25 Grand Slams, to be the only one to have done so, and he's going to do everything he can.
And the fact that Murray is joining him in his team is a signal he's sending out to the others and also to himself, so that he can have a different view of Alcaraz and Sinner's game and beat them in five sets.
Let's not forget Zverev, who finished the year on a high. And I think that's why he's calling on Andy Murray.
