Gross, tennis analyst on Murray, Djokovic's new coach: "He won't be afraid".
It's the biggest news on the tennis planet. While absolutely nobody expected it, Novak Djokovic has just announced that he will now be coached by a certain Andy Murray.
While most fans are still reeling from the news, Tennis Channel and US Open tennis analyst Gill Gross was kind enough to give his analysis of the start of the collaboration between these two legends.
He said: "With a younger, less established coach, less familiar with Novak, there might have been a process of familiarization. Perhaps a climate of trust and respect would have had to be established. Andy and Novak should be able to hit the ground running, which is very important.
Murray's stature will enable him to get Novak on board immediately. Andy won't be afraid to share his opinion. I think joining Djokovic's coaching team in 2025 is scary, it's a scary position to be in.
Andy Murray won't be afraid. Not with his stature, not with his convictions as a tennis player."
