BJK Cup 2025: Suarez Navarro analyzes Spain's tough Final 8

Despite a fierce battle, Spain failed to pass the quarterfinals of the Billie Jean King Cup 2025. Carla Suarez Navarro takes stock of her players' Final 8 in Shenzhen after the elimination.

Spain was eliminated from the BJK Cup 2025 at the quarterfinal stage by Ukraine. Carla Suarez Navarro's players fought hard, but Jessica Bouzas Maneiro and Paula Badosa were defeated by Marta Kostyuk (7-6, 6-2) and Elina Svitolina (5-7, 6-2, 7-5), respectively. The captain of the Spanish team reviewed this match, which was part of the Final 8 in China.

"It's really tough. We know it well. But what can I say? I think they were two different matches, but both very difficult. In my opinion, Marta (Kostyuk) and Jessica (Bouzas Maneiro) played very well in the first set. Then Marta played better in the second, and there was nothing that could be done.

Paula (Badosa) and Elina (Svitolina) played their best tennis. I think it was a very good match for the spectators, for the fans. It was tough. We know what kind of tennis player Elina is. She has always fought until the end throughout her career. Today, it was confirmed.

As you know, Paula returned to the court after two months without competing. She played very, very well and gave everything she had. So it was very tough. We will try to return to the final stage next year," assured Suarez Navarro to Tribuna.
