BJK Cup: Davenport, Captain of the United States, Extends for Two Years
Captain of the American BJK Cup team since 2024, Lindsay Davenport led the United States to the final of the 2025 edition. The former world number one had decided to select Jessica Pegula, Emma Navarro, Hailey Baptiste, McCartney Kessler, and Taylor Townsend for the Final 8, and the USA managed to eliminate Kazakhstan and Great Britain before falling to Italy in the final in Shenzhen in September.
A First BJK Cup Title Since 2017 as the Goal for Davenport
It was the first final in the competition for the United States since 2018, when Sofia Kenin, Alison Riske, Danielle Collins, and Nicole Melichar-Martinez fell to the Czech Republic in Prague. Now, Davenport, aged 49, is on a mission until 2027 and will seek to put the USA back on top of the world in this competition. The USA has not lifted the BJK Cup trophy since 2017.
